And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Mark 28:18-20)
Westside Christian Fellowship's commitment to missionary work encompasses work both at home and abroad, where we give of our time, prayer, talents and financial resources. Roughly 15% of our operational budget is committed to the direct or indirect support of activities that go well beyond our walls in Santa Monica and our immediate community.
Westside Christian Fellowship supports a number of missionary couples locally and abroad with whom we have "sending relationships." This means that at some point in their walks, WCF has either been a home church or has had a very long and vibrant interaction with at least one member of the family. We currently support, with direct monthly contributions, seven families abroad - including Central Africa, Central Asia, Peru, Southeast Africa and West Africa - and one local family with YoungLife in the LA Airport Area.
In addition, WCF periodically sends adults and youth on short-term trips to various parts of the world. In the past year, we have partnered with other agencies to provide support for programs in the Mississippi Gulf, South America and Indonesia.
"Perspectives on the World Christian Movement," created by the U.S. Center for World Mission (Pasadena, CA), is a 15-17 week program designed to mobilize the individual Believer to join God in His sweeping redemption of His
creation. WCF organized classes in 1996 and 2000. The next Perspectives program is scheduled to launch in March 2006.
Our missionary efforts also include various forms of support to local ministries (click here for other ministries we support) and organizations.
